New hope for Shivpuri’s tribal people
Abhay Jain founded the Zenith Legal Aid Clinic in 2016 to provide legal assistance and build awareness among Sahariya communities in Shivpuri district. The team practised “backpack lawyering”, travelling to remote settlements, staying with residents and helping people understand and act on their rights.
The work included challenges to illegal mining and other local injustices, sometimes attracting threats. Swapnil Shukla later left a job in Delhi to join Abhay in Shivpuri and practise at the Gwalior High Court Bench.
