Abhay Jain

Co-founder

Abhay connects Sehr’s grassroots experience with the wider relationships and systems needed to sustain change. Having helped build the organisation from its earliest years in Shivpuri, he brings a close understanding of Sahariya communities, public institutions and the long, patient work through which people turn rights into collective action.

A graduate of NLU Odisha, his work has ranged from travelling to remote settlements and supporting local struggles to challenging ecological destruction, administrative injustice and violations of dignity. These experiences have shaped his belief that lasting change comes through people’s agency, collective action and movements, not through legal victories alone. Today, he helps Sehr hold this direction across its programmes, partnerships, organisational strategy and funding decisions.

Abhay speaks less than he listens and brings calm to difficult situations. His love of forests, birdwatching and Indian classical music reflects the patience and attention with which he approaches both people and place.
