Displaced tribals: The promised land
Sahariya families were displaced from villages inside Madhav National Park to make way for a proposed tiger corridor. While some families received compensation, 39 continued waiting for the two hectares of agricultural land promised under the rehabilitation package.
An administrative error had allocated protected forest land instead of revenue land, leaving the families dependent on a prolonged denotification process. The loss of cultivable land pushed many people towards hazardous stone-quarry work.
